A thrilling youth ball hockey game unfolded at the Woodman Park Community Centre on December 28, 2025, as the Gators took on the Galaxy in a nail-biting encounter.
The first period was a back-and-forth affair with both teams trading even-strength goals. The Gators’ Lana Barkman opened the scoring 13 minutes into the game. However, the Galaxy quickly responded with Kieran Zacher finding the back of the net. The Gators’ Logan Barkman and the Galaxy’s Mason Russell also added to their team’s tally, maintaining the see-saw battle. But it was Lana Barkman who had the last laugh of the period, netting her second to give the Gators a slim lead heading into the break.
The second period was equally thrilling. Keegan Cousins and Logan Barkman extended the Gators’ lead, but Carter Hamilton struck twice for the Galaxy to keep them within touching distance. The closing minutes were on a knife-edge, but Logan Barkman sealed the deal for the Gators, scoring his third goal of the game, and ensuring a well-deserved victory.
The Gators’ Lana Barkman and Logan Barkman stole the show with their standout performances, contributing heavily to their team’s victory. Their unrelenting efforts on the field ensured the Gators walked away victorious in this tight contest.
Despite some penalties in both periods, the game was played in great spirit with fantastic sportsmanship displayed by all players. Although the Galaxy didn’t win this time, their performance was commendable and they are sure to come back stronger in their next match.
