It was a night of high-energy ball hockey on August 27, 2025, as the Trash Pandas faced off against the Brantford Convicts at BHi Brantford 1. This was the second game in the best two out of three championship series, and it certainly kept the spectators on the edge of their seats with a finish in overtime.
The Trash Pandas started off strong. Tom Johnson opened the scoring in the first period, sneaking a quick shot into the net at the 7-minute 41-second mark. Owen Blank, assisted by Connor Mackinnon, increased the lead in the second period, giving the Pandas a comfortable 2-0 advantage.
However, the Convicts didn’t back down. The third period saw a resurgence from the visiting team with Clayton Krawchyk, assisted by Kris Hopper, and Kris Hopper himself scoring two crucial goals to tie the game.
With the score level at 2-2 and the championship on the line, the game was pushed into overtime. The tension reached its peak until Josh Owens of the Brantford Convicts finally broke the deadlock, scoring the winning goal in the 8th minute of the overtime period.
Despite a valiant effort from the Trash Pandas, the Brantford Convicts were declared the winners. This incredible overtime showdown will be remembered as one of the most thrilling games of the season. With this win, the Convicts have taken the championship series to a decisive third game.
