On the sunny afternoon of October 19, 2025, the Hornets and the Phatletes clashed sticks at the BHi Brantford 2 in a thrilling ball hockey game.
The match kicked off with an enthusiastic first period. The crowd cheered when Thomas Penninga of the Hornets scored the first goal just 3 minutes and 25 seconds into the game. The period ended with the Hornets in the lead.
In the second period, the Phatletes fought back hard. Justen Pettipas broke through the Hornets’ defense to score a phenomenal goal. However, the period belonged to Tom Stright of the Hornets, who scored two beautiful goals with assists from Kahl Perger and ‘Default Player’. Nathan Tompkins further widened the Hornets’ lead by scoring another goal, assisted by the ever-present Tom Stright.
The third period was filled with more tension than goal action. The referees handed out five penalties. Dennis Vanevery and Tom Stright from the Hornets, and Matt Mascarin and Tyler Carnahan from the Phatletes, all had to spend two minutes in the penalty box. Nathan Tompkins from Hornets also found himself sidelined for two minutes due to a slashing penalty.
Despite the Phatletes’ valiant efforts, the Hornets managed to secure their hive with more goals and fewer penalties.
