On the crisp fall afternoon of November 1, 2025, the Trash Pandas faced off against the Cherry Blasters in an exciting youth ball hockey showdown that won’t soon be forgotten. The game, held at BHi Brantford 2, was brimming with action, skill, and unwavering team spirit from both sides.
The match kicked off on an even keel, with both teams showing resilience and pushing hard for the first goal. The first breakthrough came in the second period when Markus Mathurin, assisted by Brendan Macleod and Ryan Ashurst, fired a shot into the net for the Cherry Blasters. The crowd erupted in cheers, but the celebration was short-lived. Ryan Ashurst, assisted by Brendan Macleod and Mary Parry, managed to notch another one for the Cherry Blasters just a minute later, taking the score to 2-0.
The Trash Pandas were not to be outdone! They responded tenaciously with a fantastic goal from Will VanNieuwenhuizen, assisted by Raine Hernden and Brittany Fazekas, cutting the Blasters’ lead in half. As the period neared its end, Kyle Boutilier, assisted by Justen Pettipas and Jenn Boutilier, found the back of the net for the Pandas, equalizing the score. Will VanNieuwenhuizen, with the assistance of Payten Willmets and Kyle Boutilier, scored a stunning goal in the dying seconds of the period, pushing the Trash Pandas to a 3-2 lead.
In the final period, the Trash Pandas solidified their victory with a goal from Raine Hernden, assisted by Kyle Boutilier and Brittany Fazekas. The Cherry Blasters tried their best to rally, but the Trash Pandas held firm, ending the game with a thrilling 4-2 win.
