On the evening of October 24, 2025, the BHi Brantford 1 arena came alive with the scintillating action of youth ball hockey. The Jokers and the Cherry Blasters faced off in an exhilarating game that had fans on the edge of their seats.
The game kicked off to a roaring start with the Cherry Blasters taking an early lead. Brendan Macleod, famed for his quick stickwork, landed the first goal of the game only 8 minutes in. However, the Jokers were quick to respond, with Andrew Randazzo equalizing just two minutes later, assisted by Lucas Johnston.
Johnston, who was undoubtedly the star of the game, continued to shine, scoring his first goal less than a minute later. The first period ended with the Jokers leading 2-1.
In the second period, Lucas Johnston was unstoppable. Scoring twice, once at the 9th minute and again at the 6th minute, Johnston solidified the Jokers’ lead. The Cherry Blasters weren’t going down without a fight, though. Ryan Ashurst came through for his team, scoring a goal with an assist from Mary Parry, leaving the score at 4-2 as the period ended.
The third period saw both teams fighting tooth and nail. Layla Renneberg scored the first goal for the Jokers, assisted by the dynamic duo, Lucas Johnston and Andrew Randazzo. But the Cherry Blasters’ Machaela Mathurin was quick to respond, scoring a goal thanks to Markus Mathurin’s assist. With just one minute left on the clock, Terri Lynn Reid of the Jokers scored the final goal of the game, sealing their victory.
Both teams showed immense talent and passion, but it was the Jokers who emerged victorious, with a solid final score of 6-3. The game was a thrilling showcase of youth ball hockey at its finest.
