On the cool evening of September 12th, 2025, youth ball hockey fans were treated to a sizzling match between ‘Nips n’ Tips’ and ‘Lights Out’ at the BHi Brantford 1 venue. The game headed into overtime and ended with the Nips n’ Tips clinching the victory.
The first period saw Leyton Johnston of Nips n’ Tips scoring a goal, assisted by Shannon Pearson and Mason Boutilier. Leyton scored again in the second period, demonstrating his sharp shooting skills. However, Lights Out refused to be left behind as they responded with Sissy Penzvalto putting one in the net, assisted by Tom Johnson. The second period ended with both teams locked in a steely battle.
The third period saw Tom Johnson of Lights Out scoring a goal, keeping the hopes alive for his team. However, Leyton Johnston of Nips n’ Tips became the hero of the night. In the fifth period, just 11 seconds into overtime, Leyton scored the game-winning goal, assisted by Kyle Boutilier, helping his team emerge victorious.
The game was a thrilling display of skill and teamwork, with Nips n’ Tips taking 24 shots at goal and Lights Out 18. The referees, Dino LaPorta and Jeff Bradbury, ensured a fair play while Alyssa Miles efficiently kept time.
