It was a day full of energy and excitement at the Woodman Park Community Centre on December 21, 2025, as the Lions and the Gators clashed in an eagerly anticipated ball hockey showdown. The Lions roared to victory, proving their mettle in a game filled with thrilling moments and exceptional performances.
The first period was action-packed, setting the tone for the rest of the game. The Gators struck first with Hrishita Balothia scoring an even-strength goal within the first 11 minutes. However, the Lions quickly turned the tide as Reid Cole netted back-to-back goals to tip the balance in favour of the visitors. Riding on the momentum, the Lions extended their lead as Reid Cole completed a first-period hat-trick and Ella Jackson added another one to the tally.
Despite being on the back foot, the Gators showed great resilience. Hrishita Balothia, the Gators’ star player, managed to score her second goal of the game, reducing the deficit to two. As the second period got underway, it was Lana Barkman of the Gators who kept the hopes alive for the home team, narrowing the gap with another goal.
The day was not just about goals, though. Both teams put up a fantastic defensive display, repelling multiple attacks from their opponents. The Gators recorded 16 shots on goal while the Lions had 19.
Kudos to both teams for their high-energy performances and sportsmanship. It was a day that surely left the spectators at the Woodman Park Community Centre wanting for more. Congratulations to our three stars of the game: Reid Cole, Hrishita Balothia, and Lana Barkman. We’re already looking forward to the next encounter!
