It was an exciting day at the Woodman Park Community Centre on December 28, 2025 as the Gators secured a thrilling victory against the Lions in a nail-biting ball hockey match. The game, filled with action from start to finish, saw both teams displaying great skill and teamwork.
The first period set the tone for the game, with Pia Pinto of the Lions roaring first, scoring an even strength goal just 12 minutes and 5 seconds into the match. However, Logan Barkman of the Gators quickly responded, evening up the scoreline with a goal of his own 5 minutes and 46 seconds into the period.
As the second period commenced, determined play saw both teams once again trading goals. Iris Dean of the Lions reclaimed the lead for her team 4 minutes and 35 seconds into the period. However, the Gators refused to back down with Lana Barkman returning a goal less than a minute into the second period.
The match was filled with tension as both the Lions and Gators found themselves evenly matched. Both teams had numerous shots on goal, with the Lions taking 32 shots and the Gators taking 28. The game ultimately came down to a heart-stopping shootout.
In the thrilling conclusion of the game, it was Keegan Cousins of the Gators who stole the show, scoring the winning goal in the shootout and securing victory for the Gators.
A big shout out to our refs Nico Carmichael and Nathan Feeney who did an excellent job controlling the game flow. Also, the three stars of the game were Logan Barkman, Lana Barkman, and Pia Pinto for their outstanding performances and integral roles in their respective teams.
