On the night of August 22, 2025, the Cherry Blasters met the Pigeons on the BHi Brantford 1 field for an exhilarating match that saw the Cherry Blasters emerge victorious!
The game kicked off with a bang as Mike Montour of the Cherry Blasters scored the first goal just 4 minutes and 35 seconds into the first period. Jason Rossi, assisted by Markus Mathurin, followed up soon after, landing another goal for the Blasters just a few minutes later.
The Pigeons, not to be outdone, responded in the second period. Mason Boutilier, assisted by Shane Heffernan, drove the ball into the net 8 minutes and 41 seconds in. The Blasters hit back with Nathan Gilchrist’s goal, assisted by Markus Mathurin. But the Pigeons were relentless – Shane Heffernan, assisted by Kyle Boutilier, scored another goal for the team, ending the second period on a high note.
As the third period kicked off, the Cherry Blasters dominated. Mike Montour scored his second goal of the night, followed by goals from Kourtney Balaga and Brittany Mead, both assisted by Markus Mathurin and Judy Hycza.
In total, the Cherry Blasters fired 27 shots while the Pigeons had 18. The Blasters’ precise aim and cooperative play led them to a well-deserved win.
A special mention to Markus Mathurin who had a hand in four of the six Cherry Blasters’ goals, proving to be a game-changer for the team.
