January 4, 2026, turned out to be a night of intense action and spectacular goals as the Brantford Royals – White clashed with Maximum Effort at Woodman Park Community Centre.
The first period saw a torrent of goals, with the Royals’ Chuckie Johnson opening the scoreboard at the 14-minute mark. Maximum Effort quickly responded with Lawrence Vanevery’s neat strike. However, the Royals were not ready to back down and unleashed a slew of goals, led by Chris Boyd’s back-to-back strikes, followed by Kaitlyn Barkman’s and Joel Carey’s impressive goals. The Royals led the first period with a remarkable 5-1 lead.
Maximum Effort tried their best to claw back into the game in the second period. Dalton Vander Heide stepped up, scoring two impressive goals, while Jeanessa Patey also found the net. However, the Royals were relentless as Chris Boyd completed his hat trick and Heather Barkman stamped her authority on the game with two goals.
The game ended with the Brantford Royals – White emerging victorious in this action-packed encounter. Despite Maximum Effort’s valiant attempt to bounce back, the Royals’ powerful offense was too much to handle. Both teams displayed tremendous skill and sportsmanship, providing fans with a memorable ball hockey game.
Kudos to the referees, Machaela Mathurin and Jaymz Easton, along with timekeeper Nathan Feeney, for their excellent management of this thrilling game.
