On an electrifying evening of October 17, 2025, the Pigeons soared to victory over the valiant Friday Knights in a youth ball hockey showdown that buzzed with energy right up until the final whistle.
The Pigeons displayed a strong offensive showing at BHi Brantford 2, with Jenn Boutilier leading the way. She lit up the scoreboard not once, but twice in the first period, with assists from Raine Hernden and Will VanNieuwenhuizen on the first goal and an extra assist from Tripp Balaga on the second. These early goals provided a solid foundation that set the tone for the rest of the game.
But the Friday Knights were not to be overshadowed. They roared back in the second period with an unassisted goal by Melanie Woods. This was followed by another goal in the third period from Kris Boulton, with assists from John Denardis and Chuck Bates. The Knights’ spirit remained unbroken throughout the game.
However, the Pigeons’ relentless offense was too much for the Knights. In the final period, Kyle Boutilier sealed the game with a goal, assisted by Raine Hernden and Maddie Lefler.
Despite the Knights’ Lawrence Vanevery serving a two-minute penalty for tripping in the third period, the Pigeons’ victory can be attributed to their powerful offense and rock-solid defense that kept the Knights at bay.
The match was not just a testament to the skill and endurance of these young athletes, but also a celebration of the wonderful sport of ball hockey. Congratulations to the Pigeons for their win and hats off to the Friday Knights for their unwavering sportsmanship!
