On the evening of August 13, 2025, The Thundercocks and the Badgers clashed in a fiercely contested ball hockey game at the BHi Brantford 1 venue. In an absolutely thrilling contest, it was the Badgers who managed to scrape a win by a whisker.
The game started off with a bang as Randy Leween of The Thundercocks found the net within the first period, thanks to an assist from Tag Vornbrock. The crowd erupted as The Thundercocks took an early lead. However, the joy was short-lived. The Badgers retaliated in the second period with Jaxon King equalizing, assisted by Brayden Barnett.
Despite an electrifying start from The Thundercocks, the Badgers managed to keep their cool and showcased some of their best defense to keep the attackers at bay. The game saw its fair share of penalties, with both teams suffering two each, adding to the growing tension on the rink.
The decisive moment came in the third period when Brycen Buscombe, assisted by PJ Fulsom, scored for the Badgers, catapulting them into the lead. The Thundercocks fought hard, but the Badgers held their ground, eventually coming out on top. The final whistle marked a well-deserved victory for the Badgers, who demonstrated remarkable resilience and skill throughout the game.
Referees Jeff Bradbury and Shane Heffernan, along with Time Keeper Olivia Gairns, did a wonderful job keeping the game fair, with a variety of calls that kept both teams on their toes. Despite the loss, The Thundercocks showed great potential and promise for their upcoming games.
