On a bright Sunday morning of August 3, 2025, youth ball hockey fans expected a thrilling match between the powerhouse teams, the Phatletes and N.E.E. However, the game took an unexpected turn resulting in a forfeit win for the Phatletes at the BHi Brantford 2 venue.
The game was set to be a close one as the two teams were evenly matched and ready for action. Unfortunately, N.E.E. couldn’t field enough players, resulting in a forfeit. The Phatletes were declared winners, but fans were left hungry for more ball hockey action.
Despite the unusual nature of the match, our referees for the day, Amanda Smith and Jacob Gerrard, along with timekeeper Owen Leween, professionally upheld the rules of the game and declared the Phatletes as the winners.
While we didn’t get to witness any highlight-reel shots or outstanding saves, we look forward to the upcoming action in the league. It’s games like these that build the narrative and the rivalries, which make youth ball hockey such an exciting sport to follow.
Here’s to the Phatletes on their victory and to N.E.E for showing sportsmanship in accepting the result. The Phatletes’ victory is a reminder that every part of the game, including simply showing up, is essential.
Stay tuned for more ball hockey fun, excitement, and sportsmanship!
